FRSC plan to reduce road accident during festive period

The Federal Road Safety Commission
(FRSC), on Tuesday said it had
embarked on measures that would reduce road
crashes during the Yuletide.
Fatai Bakare, the commission’s unit commander,
said in Ota that the steps were to check
motorists’ speeding and save passengers’ lives .
Bakare said that the commission had purchased a
new vehicle for enlightenment campaigns to
various motor parks, markets and other public
places, to explain the danger of speeding during
the period.
The vehicle would also be used for emergency
cases, he said "Embarking on an intensive campaign without
enforcement is an entertainment that will yield no
positive result,’’ he said.
The commander said that some reflective jackets
had been distributed to areas under his unit, for
use by his officials, to control traffic and ensure
safety on the roads during festive periods.
"Our clinic has been equipped with drugs so that
our officials can give first aid treatment to victims
of fresh accidents before taking them to the
general hospitals, for intensive treatment.
'The FRSC management has also established
emergency rescue points along the roads, that
will work 24 hours daily, to attend to victims of
accidents,’’ he added.
